*Sticky* New features on hold

Larry has anounced his development plan for the immediate future - to concentrate on a new Universal Binary version of DVDAE, in order to be compatible with the new Intel Macs. It is planned that this version will have a Cocoa interface, and eventually to port it to Windows. Until this new version is ready and has an equivalent feature-set to version 3.04, he will not be adding any new features to DVDAE. Current estimates for this new version are that it is several months away.

*Sticky* Summary of requests so far - please read this first

This post will aim to keep track of the discussions in the forum and summarise requests so far. Please note that this forum is only a wish-list - just because ideas are discussed here doesn't mean they are necessarily part of the programmer's "road map" for future development. However this post will note where a feature is known to be under development. Old requests which have since been added are listed at the end of this post.

DDP Image Data Sheet

It would be very useful to have DAE print out a detailed sheet of DDP transfer. I mean with all data we want to know: DDP type, # of layers, layers sizes, region code, css, macrovision, vts#, etc. Kind of sheet that we can provide to the replication plant.

AUDIO_TS editing ?

It would be very interesting to be able to edit AUDIO_TS folder. There is a big price difference between Sonic and Minnetonka products. Using limited features of Minnetonka Discwelder and then edit at full-spec with DVDAfterEdit would be great.

Are there still plans for a Windows version

Hi,

I remember reading early on that there were plans for a Windows version of the software. Is this still the case?

We have 4 Windows authoring systems (Spruce DVD Maestro) so a Windows version of the software would be extremely useful. Ideally we'd have a copy of DVDAfterEdit Mastering Edition on each machine to make the master creation process much faster. At the moment we have one running for all 4 on a shared Mac which causes some bottle necks.

Ability to burn direct to recordable media.

Further to this.

I hear ya about the feature order of importance but I didn't mean to imply that this is top of my wish list. I think it'd be a great addition and one that many people would use. I don't think this is something that should be on top of the list but something people would expect of the product. I know we get used to stuff cause we've been around for years but I think its one of those situations that a customer wouldn't bat eye lid if DVDAE ME burnt to DVD±R (DL) but are shocked when it doesn't.

Report generation

Hi Ian,

- Report generation (.txt file) like Creator does when you read a DLT.

If you enable the logs in the Mastering Prefs, does this give you what you need ?

Na I don't think so but you might educate me. As far as I know the Log text file is just a list of what you see in the Log. Sector changes, Region 7 warnings etc. In Creator I can take any DLT from the Plant or wherever and generate a DDP report so I'll know what is on the Tape, when it was created, what layer, Region info and a bunch of other stuff. This is very handy,

how to vote ?

I found some of the points of the feature-request-list as a thread,
but how can I vote for these, which are not in a thread ?

thx

HD-DVD/Blueray-Editing...

Yes, I know,It´s probably to early to post this, even the specs are not final released ( not real ) and just a few recorder been released yet.

I´ve got no idea if the HD-specs are more difficult or not, but I would like to be able to edit a HD-DVD or blueray that was made with dvd studio before.

The title says it all. Would be a great time savings for these cases.
