Hi,
I'm new user of TFDVDEdit.
I need to burn my project to DL DVD+R. Nero ignores LB from TFDVDEdit and makes its own LB. I would like to burn this DVD in GEAR PRO Mastering Edition v 7.0. Gear needs to enter sector number, but sector number which shows me TFDVDEdit is not multiple of 16 sectors.
How I can find correct sector value? Is there other application where I can to do this?
TFDVDEdit window is attached.
Thank you,
Jan Kotovsky

Hi Jan,
The TFDVD-9 Maker Docs in the members download section has the instructions on how to use Gear to make the layer break; although they're a little outdated, due to Gear's new ability to offset sectors, which is explained on their site:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/documentation/dvdvideobreakpoint.cfm
Section "9" on the above page (disregard all the rest of their instructions, going with the TFDVD-9 maker docs) explains how to move all the projects' sectors to line up with the sector you've determined to be the location of the layer break cell, and have it be divisible by 16. You can either set the layer break cell as non seamless in IFOEdit as instructed in the 9-maker docs using IFOEdit, or with TFDVDEdit.
Let me know if you have questions.
Take care,
Trai

Hi Trai,
I looks pretty easy. But when I use First VOBU start sector nubber - 1785269 and offset sectors in Gear by the article link in your post, Eclipse still reports seamles cell.

Hi Jan,
Unfortunately, you didn't make the break on a cell, according to the Eclipse report. That happens often to good folks using Gear's software (their instructions on how to make a DVD-9 on their site are incorrect). I was a little worried about you Jan, when you didn't have any questions.
I think it would be a good idea to become a member over at TFDVD.com; we have a whole discussion group ("TFDVD-9 Maker Forum") devoted to helping authors use Gear's software to properly pre-master DVD-9's.
I'm sorry you've been having so much trouble.

Trai,
I folow TFDVD-9 Maker docs. By the "16 helper calculator table"
VOBU with layer break is 5664 with start sector 1,785,269 and should be 19 "cliks" before (above) at VOBU_5625 with start sector 1,779,990.
I know Gear is not you software and I don't know if my questions are right for you, please can you tell me how to set sector offset in Gear for this case - so big sector difference?
Additional information:
Layer break is in VST_08_4.VOB (start sec. 1,852,852) and VST_08_0.VOB has start sector at 280,026.
Thank you,
Jan

Hi Jan,
You might like to try my 9Maker spreadsheet here:
http://www.tfdvdedit.com/members/programs/fileinfo.cfm?id=78&action=disp...
It's specifically designed to help you use the "Sector Offset" method with Gear - much easier than the original TFDVD 9-Maker method, in my opinion ?

Hi Jan,
One of the problems with Gear's instructions on their site is they have you add the start sector of the VTSM_0 VOB to the sector number of your cell in the VTS_# VOB. Big mistake. You'll miss the layer break cell by however many sectors are in the VTSM domain. So, Don't worry about the VTSM_0 VOB.
Use the sector number as reported by IFOEdit for your layer break cell (the cell needs to be flagged as non seamless, so check that), and add that number to what Gear reports is the start sector for VTS_08_4.VOB (1,852,852, in your case).
If that number (what IFOEdit reports as your sector number for the layer break cell, added to what Gear reports is the start of VTS_0_4.VOB) is not divisible by 16, then use Gear's instructions to offset the layer break cells location.
Take care,
Trai

Oh Jan,
I made a mistake in my previous reply.
Take what IFOEdit reports as the sector number for the cell in your 8th VTS, but use what Gear reports as the sector number for the start of VTS 8, VTS_08_1.VOB (NOT VTS_8_4.VOB) to add together to get the true sector number for the layer break (if it's not divisible by 16, then go through their instructions on how to do that, as before).
Gear shows physical sector numbers, and IFOEdit only shows the "logical" sector numbers; and in the IFO files, sector numbers start over at "0" for each domain.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Trai

Dear Trai,
I'm sorry for my late answer. Thanks for your tips.
I just load my project into TFDVDEdit 3, export as DDP 2.0 and burn L0 and L1 as two DVD-ROMs.
So simply and I lost plenty of time with Gear. (and with finding the right question for you)
