DLT OUTPUT ISSUE

Hi everybody...

Finally We've bought DVDafteredit this morning
I'm trying to format my first DLT set but it does'nt work...

Everything is OK until I hit "Start" in the format panel.
the tape is being loaded normally...
"Writing Control Info..."
"Writing Control Files..."
nothing seems to happen at this point
After a few seconds I get "Format copy error detected in function Run at line 107 of file CTapeWriterThread.cp Note: WriteSmallFile failed" in the log window with the message "Format Failed"

I've checked on the website about hardware issue, I have ATTO SCSI Controller with QUANTUM DLT4000 Drive attached, It should work, doesn't it?

I've also tried with different tapes: type IV, type III, new, used... with the same result.

I must miss something...
Please help me!

Thank you by advance!

Vince

Make sure the DLT work w/o DVDAE

Vince -

It would also be good for you to test the functioning of the DLT drive separately from DVDAE. Try writing a backup using Retrospect or a similar DLT-savvy tool. If that fails, you know the problem cannot be with DVDAE.

Hi Vince, Sorry to hear

Hi Vince,

Sorry to hear you're having problems, I haven't seen this one before. The ATTO card is supported, however the DLT4000 is quite an old drive. It's possible the firmware may be out of date. Larry is the expert on this stuff and is based in the US, so he will be online shortly and can help you troubleshoot this.

In the meantime, please could you try again, making sure the box marked "Include Macintosh ROM Data" is not checked in the Directories section of the Format/Copy window.

There is also a step-by-step guide to writing DLTs here:

DLT Step-by-step guide

Please try the procedure there to let us know if this helps. Finally, the version you are using of the ATTO deivers is important, please can you tell us which version of OS-X you are running, and which ATTO driver you have ? (More on this here).
