Output DDP for ARccOS specifications

Hi guys,

Have a client who needs to replicate a DVD-5 with ARccOS specifications. I just go through the PDF and I stick on one thing:

Format requirements:
- DDP2.0 images with a SSCRST of 0,1 and 3
- DDP2.10 / CMF1.0 images with a SSCRST of 0

I found that on SSCRST:

> SSCRST type 0 = No encryption
> SSCRST type 1 = Keys are supplied on the DLT and will be
> encrypted during mastering
> SSCRST type 2 = Data is already encrypted on the DLT
> SSCRST type 3 = No keys are supplied on the DLT (WAMO
> will supply keys that will be encrypted during mastering)
> SSCRST type 4 = Encryption table determines which sectors
> will be encrypted (WAMO will supply keys encrypted during
> mastering)
> SSCRST type 5 = Sectors tagged for encryption (WAMO will
> supply keys encrypted during mastering)

So which one will DAE use when outputting DDP 2.0 or 2.1 ? I suppose type 3, but want to be sure.

Thanks Larry and Michael

I never done that before so I'll have to be careful about the specs, though it's a pretty simple project.

Done a number of ARccOS discs w/o a problem

FWIW I've output a number of ARccOS discs with CSS via DVDAE and have had no problems in replication. You should be following the other guidelines however and leave sufficient space on each layer as requested.

Michael

Security System Status will be 3 or 5

Hi Pierre-Luc,

If you output a tape image (or DLT) from DVDAE, you will get a complete description of that output in the log. For DDP 2.0 with CSS the SSCRST will be type 3 (keys supplied during mastering).

For DDP 2.1 or CMF with CSS, the SSCRST will by type 5 (same as 3, except that the VOBTable describes which sector ranges will be encrypted during mastering). So it would appear that ARccOS cannot handle the VOBTable. However replication with DDP 2.1 and CMF has been rare in our experience, and offers no particular advantage.

We do not condone, support, or preclude additional copy protection layers on top of CSS. It is up to the user to determine if they will work or not.

Regards,

Larry
