HDAE and CSS Managed Recording

Not exactly sure where to ask this question...

I read that HD AfterEdit will support DVD-R burning. Will that include CSS managed recording so I can make copy protected discs as well? Might be a killer-SD feature for me (and maybe others). I've not been following the standard so I'm uncertain what would be involved.

Thanks!

Michael

[Addendum: looks like this might require a special media blank and not a standard DVD-R blank - maybe a special burner as well. I guess this is not something that's really ready for prime time.]

Oops, you're right. I'd read

Oops, you're right. I'd read about this but not considered it beyond the suggested use for downloads. I think you're right, it will be a while before this is generally available.

You are thinking of authoring media.

Ian -

You are confusing authoring media (and the old Pioneer S201 burners - which I have access to) with a new extension to the DVD-R spec, called CSS Managed Recording, that was apparently just approved at the beginning of the year. Here's a link if you are interested:

As I read more, it's pretty apparent this isn't going to be something anybody has for a while. The intent is to allow folks to download and burn commercial DVDs at home.

Hi Michael, You're right,

Hi Michael,

You're right, you need a special burner ( sorry, I can't remember the model number ) and "authoring" media. These are pretty uncommon nowadays, so I think demand for this would be low. You should be able to do it with Creator though, if you can get the drive and media ?
