Can't write DVD9

I have two DVD9's to write to DLT. I have a G4 733Mhz with an ATTO UL3D, 4 x DLT7000 drives and am running 10.3.9. One DVD9 writes perfectly and has a total reported size of 5.82GB. The other project has a total reported size of 7.91GB (4.05GB Layer 0, 3.85GB Layer 1) and refuses to write to tape. It just comes up with 'Rewinding Tape' then 'Format Cancelled'. I normally use two drives to write a DVD9. I've tried all combos of the four drives and one drive only. The weird thing is that other projects work just fine. However I can't find anything obviously wrong with the project unless its too big perhaps? BTW, it won't format an image either! Matt

Interestingly...

I recently (accidentally) created a project in Spruce that had no break set in it. When I opened the resulting VIDEO_TS in DVDAE, it appeared to be pretty confused - showing me only a small range of LB candidates in a place I knew was illegal (would have resulted in L1 being much bigger than L0). As soon as I set the LB, DVDAE immediately re-calculated the whole LB range (start and extent) and moved the LB from where I had tried to set it to someplace in the new range. I had never seen it behave this way before.

BTW: I was using 3.0.4 at the time.

Yes, the size shoud be fine

Yes, the size shoud be fine - but, when the disc is relatively full likr this, the valid range for a non-seamless cell is fairly small. The good news is you can add one in DVDAE, if necessary - just find a "blue arrow" at a suitable point. But, it's probably better to do it in the authoring application, if possible. If you need more info, please let us know.

I wondered if this might be it. I'll do some tests to check. Does the size sound OK to you?

Hi Matt, Does it have a

Hi Matt,

Does it have a valid layer break ? You can tell because if not, the layer-break location will be listed as in the ROM data.
