Are there still plans for a Windows version

Hi,

I remember reading early on that there were plans for a Windows version of the software. Is this still the case?

We have 4 Windows authoring systems (Spruce DVD Maestro) so a Windows version of the software would be extremely useful. Ideally we'd have a copy of DVDAfterEdit Mastering Edition on each machine to make the master creation process much faster. At the moment we have one running for all 4 on a shared Mac which causes some bottle necks.

Thanks!

Stepping stone

Hi Steve,

Development of the Universal Binary will delay the Windows port, since one is developed before the other at this stage. However it will help in the sense that Larry intends to use Cocoa for the Universal version, which will hopefully involve an significant improvement in many areas of the user interface. In turn this should mean a better Windows version, ultimately.

Universal Binary Version

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply. Will the development of the Universal Binary version help with the development of a Windows version at all or is it completely different?

A mastering-only version would be way handy -

Ideas, being cheaper than implementations, this post makes me think about having a mastering-only version that doesn't provide support for anything else but setting (and previewing) the LB and outputting to tape or DVD-R.

I say this now having had to recently wrestle with the likes of Gear and Spruce for output to tape - bleah! I am so much happier writing tapes using DVDAE!!! Yay for living and supported software!!!

Research is underway

Hi Steve,

I understand that plans for a Windows version are moving ahead, but there is no development timetable at the moment.
