I would like to vote for:
5,6,8,9,16,17,19,24,25,27,28,29,30,31,32
and I´ve got another feature-request, because it´s not possible ( in an easy way )at the moment:
It would be very handy, if it could be possible to add a menu from another VOB (a part of it, for example VMG PGC 3 and 4) to the VMG and/or the VTSM from the dvd I´m working on, without replaceing the rest of it, like it is possible to delete it.
I know the article "Manipulating Menus", but it would be handy to work within afteredit ONLY.... this article appears to be a work-around and it is very time-consumeing
The main points from my point of view in order of priority are:
8. PTP support. Since we use DVDAfterEdit mainly for mastering this is a pretty major feature for us.
16. A Progress Bar! Let us know how long is left to save! :) Actually - The only changes we make on a regular basis are to the region codes and the layer break position. Sometimes it will still take 5 to 10 minutes to save after these basic changes - Is this necessary?
These two I’ve listed first because they are (in my naive opinion) the quickest to implement and of the greatest relative benefit to our work flow.
A Windows Version of the software – If this is still on the cards it would be extremely useful for us.
I've added your votes. All Larry has said to me about HDAfterEdit is that "research is underway", but reading between the lines you shouldn't expect to see anything for quite some time, I don't think.
Thanks Jake. ( So, everything except 1, 5, 13, 15, 18, then ?! ) iSCSI support is of no interest ?
A few comments:
- Ability to burn direct to recordable media.
OK, I'll add this one to the list, since we've now had 4 separate requests recently, BUT: I see dvdAE's value in the marketplace as supplying features that are unavailable anywhere else. There are Apps like Toast devoted solely to burning discs. Wouldn't all the development time on dvdAE be better spent on all the other requests, rather than delaying all that for the sake of something that just saves us a couple of mouse-clicks ? As an alternative, hopefully quicker-to-implement alternative, how about a "Write project with Toast" button ?
- Report generation (.txt file) like Creator does when you read a DLT.
If you enable the logs in the Mastering Prefs, does this give you what you need ?
- I'd like to be able to open tape tools even if there isn't a DLT attached.
Why ?
- Ability to paste UOPs to multiple PGCs.
You already can ! Edit>Paste User Ops Repeated
- Ability to open Builds from External HDs.
I do this all the time. Can you give more detail about any problems you're having in the support forum ?
I'd like to vote for: 16, 4, 11, 12, 6, 3, 2, 19 & 5
And also: 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 17, 19, 20 & 21
Here a few others that spring to mind:
- Option to search for used GPRMs in a build.
- Interface to look more 'Mac Like'.
- Ability to burn direct to recordable media.
- Report generation (.txt file) like Creator does when you read a DLT.
- Not to be able to open Tracer loads of times for the same build.
- I'd like to be able to open tape tools even if there isn't a DLT attached.
- An updated manual and ability to open from the app.
- Create a backup. (A copy of the VIDEO_TS directory from the interface)
- Be able to add notes/comments.
- Be able to Colour (color) code PGCs, Cells whatever.
- Be able to have the Log open as default (and maybe part of the interface).
- Ability to paste UOPs to multiple PGCs.
- Ability to open Builds from External HDs.
Just let me know which items you'd like to vote for in this thread and I'll update the sticky. Vote for all the ones you want to support, including those which have a thread - it'll keep things a bit tidier. And, anyone else who wants to please vote in this thread too.
Thanks Danny, I've added

Vote
Hi Ian, here are the results of the German televoting ;-)
1, 5, 11, 12, 14, 17, 27
21 (What are the plans????)
24 (not the toast version! It is needless in my opinion as long as toast dont obey the layer break!)
6 (Even better would be the support of a decoder card and also in-sync sound decoding)
Thanks for Listening,
Matthias
Gotcha

#1: Restartable write or verify cycle when DLT for layer 1 fails
My number 1 (with a bullet).
This has bitten me one to many times in the last year, esp. during the verify cycle and especially when trying to make a FedEx deadline. ;->
