Hello,
I know that it is possible with Maestro, Creator and Scenarist to assign two subtitle streams to the same language. One for Widescreen display and One for Letterboxed 4:3 display. the user will only see one subtitle stream depending on his player configuration.
DVD studio Pro lacks this feature. now i want to know if its possible to "masquerade" subtitle streams with DVD After edit. so the user will only see those subtitles that are intended for his setup?
If yes, is this also possible with the standard edition?
Another question. If i understand your pricing model correct i buy the software and have one your support via your website. Or do I rent the software for one year?
Subpicture Stream Control in DVDAfterEdit
Hi Doppelmonster,
It must be coordinated in the authoring app, since we don't have the ability to change which streams are enabled yet (this is on our to-do list). But the player itself will choose the stream based on the settings.
When the time comes, it would be best if you give us a small sample project and explain exactly how you expect it to perform, so we can make sure it is implemented properly in our code. This kind of issue is very hard to discuss in the abstract.

Hello Larry ,thanks for your fast response.
Great to hear that this will work with your program.
I checked the demo and understand now how to map the subtitles. But where do i delete the 2 streams i dont want to see?

Matthias

P.P.S. by the way, thanks for the giveaway DVD, the long way to germany!
Subpicture Stream Control in DVDAfterEdit
Hi Doppelmonster,
Yes, you can remap subtitle streams for which one to select for 4:3, wide, letterbox, and pan & scan. For the case you cite, you would need to create two subtitle streams for English, which you can do in DVD Studio Pro. (I just tried it).
You can do this with the demo version of the program, to see how it works, but you won't be able to save the result. The standard edition does everything except pre-mastering, including this feature, of course.
When you buy the software it belongs to you. The one year support promise is a minimum, and we will not withdraw support arbitrarily. But for example, we do not offer support for version 2 anymore, since it was replaced with version 3.

Larry
