Here is a complete procedure for writing DLT masters. There are plenty of unnecessary steps here, intended to catch human error and bugs which have long since been fixed, but it's what I do, and it works every time. Hope you find it useful ! - Ian
- Copy files to a folder
- Set Permissions:
- Select the enclosing folder and Apple-I to get the info window up
- Unfold the Ownerships & Permissions and "Details" and set all the options to "Read & Write"
- Click on "Apply to enclosed items"
- Run DVDAE and Open the project
- Ensure the layer break is set, if necessary
- ( If no valid location is listed, or it says "ROM data", you'll need to control-click on a suitable "blue arrow" Nav-Pack and choose Insert Cell )
- Open the log Window to check for any information messages
- Go to the File menu, and Save, if it isn't greyed out
- ( If it is, skip the next stage )
- Quit the program completely, re-open and check that any changed details have "stuck"
- Open the Format/Copy window
- Select the Source, then Destination
- Re-confirm layer-break
- Set Copy-Protection options, if necessary
- Leave other settings as defaults: DDP 2.0, Encrypt VTS Menus only, Include Macintosh ROM Data
- Load DLT
- Manually set compression to off on the DLT
- ( This shouldn't be necessary, but some DLT drives are quirky )
- Click Start
- ( If you see "Format failed", please use this workaround )
It may also be worth deleting the preferences for your project before trying this procedure, too. It will be in
/root volume/Users/user name/Library/Preferences
with a name of the form
com.tfdvd.DVDAfterEdit.project.xxxx.plist
where xxxx is the enclosing folder name for each VIDEO_TS folder
